Pulga & Kheer Ganga Area

IMPORTANT NOTES :- This area has many opportunities to explore the mountains . A easy approach from Manikaran which is Sikh religious place and is heavily routed by buses and taxis from Bhuntar & Kullu. Pulga is fast becoming a camping place for children and families as it is so close to road and just plain walking in pines.

PULGA : To reach Pulga, one has to leave national highway of Chandigarh-Manali-Leh route at Bhuntar. This area is very popular among sikhs /Hindus for Gurudwara(meaning in English:Home of God)Manikaran Sahib. But bus will go through one of adventurous road we have in this area. On reaching Manakran, follow the river Paravati...after 6 Kms. you will enter in Pulga. enroute if you met foreigners,do not shock to see lot of them....they are more than locals..it is a joke there.Stay anywhere,in shacks(they are cheap),in rest house, pitch tent...again food is not problem..plenty of eating joints and you can have some of your favorite dishes also....even coke is available!!! eh,yes! trek is parallels . As you will not be much tired...walking is enjoyble..one of the best walk we enjoyed in Himalayas.

KHEER GANGA:Further 5 kms. of Pulga, have to follow the river. It is place for hermits but  we have seen lot of tents and met some trekkers from Italy and France . There is one hermitage but it is usually overloaded...never leave Pulga without proper knowledge of accommodation there...something to cook/eat. better to be equipped with tent. There is no eating joint. If you are well equipped, trek further ..cross a snow bridge(it is there upto late May)and keep walking. Pandav bridge ....Mantalai...there is no habitation.Only pasturs. You may not encounter any human being there. There are many scope for exploration...on your left is LAHAUL and on your front is KINNAUR/KAZA. So search and exploration can be done and some remote village of Lahaul can be reached from this part.

To came back..just turn ....back!!!!!

IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT : Do not leave Pulga for Kheer Ganga(a) in rainy weather (b) alone or with inexperienced friend (c) If not having tent.

CAMPING

Very good place for organizing summer camps. Now phone facilities are also there in Pulga.Plenty of place to pitch tents.  WE ALWAYS PREFER ONE NEAR FOREST REST HOUSE . Ample space for children games, availability of water and easy for kids to walk. For Demos of rock climbing /Rappelling ,one has to choose rocks on way to Kheer ganga..according to age group and weather. We prefer pack lunch and carry some ration for tea and after spending a day out,we return back to Pulga in evening.
