Touring India in winters- few options.

After reading a lot on net- this is what I had summerized.

Most tourists choose beaches in winters and famous is Goa and perhaps this is why it is one of the most expensive destination too. India has very long coastal line and if you are not looking for touristy places- find something new and fresh. This view also fits on KERALA which is too much crowded but still some parts can provide you fresh air and less crowd.

Maharashtra: Not only tribal village treks but few more destinations can be explored in Maharashtra as weather is pleasant in winters. Ajanta, Ellora at Aurangabad is popular and should not be missed but do not avoid visiting 5 kms. from Aurangabad to see DAULTABAD FORT and then BIBI KA MAQBRA which is Taj Mahal of South India. LONAR CRATOR is second good place to see where centuries back, a cratir hits earth and created a 10 km. wide lake. Good place to visit and explore broken temples which are still lying in open with all their art and craft...open and free to be seen.

Rajasthan: Night temp. may drop to bitter cold but worth to visit JODHPUR, JAISALMER besides JAIPUR. Not only these tourist places, you can have a visit to RANTHAMBHORE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY too. But this is all on road tour from Delhi.

Punjab: Upcoming tourist place on India map- now tourists are going deep inside villages to see perhaps world's best agriculture community and their rich lifestyle. This place certainly does not represent INDIA ...very rich culture and lifestyle. Many villagers can communiate in ENGLISH. Golden Temple, Vagha border are famous places to visit.

Himalayas: Closed for serious treks but short walks and a visit to JIM CORBETT can be enjoyed. If coming to Punjab, you should drop by Macleod Ganj-Dharamashala to have a look in Tibetan life too.

You can contact Tanuja from HImadventures at info@himadventures.net and get tips and options about your tour.

WARNING: Some places in India may not be considered safe for travel and tourism.

It is fine but reach at airports well before time.

Mumabi is cooing down and very soon life will come to normal. One can travel to Mumbai but if you are boarding a plain ...reach airport minimum 3 hrs before flight time. There will be frisking, dog sniffing and God know what else, to prevent another terror attack which some people say will come via sky.

Mumbai not safe.

Mumbai is not safe- stay away from landing on traveling to Mumbai. You never know what happens where. I was struck up in riots and it took me good 7 hrs. to come out of it after paying lot of money to taxis and autorickshaws.
