British girl raped in Himachal Pradesh

An 18-year-old British national, who worked with an NGO in Palampur, was allegedly raped by two youths in a maxi cab on the outskirts of the town in Kangra district, police sources said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Thursday night when the girl was returning after her day's work and was offered lift by the two youths on the outskirts of Palampur, around 140 kms from Shimla, Kangra SP Atul Fulzale told reporters.

According to the FIR filed, the youths first molested her in the moving vehicle and when the cab reached a secluded area, they dragged her out and raped her repeatedly, police said.

The SP said that the girl has been admitted to a civil hospital where she underwent a medical examination. The British Embassy has been informed of the incident, the SP said adding that three police teams have been constituted to nab the culprits.
