Weather updates North India and Himalayan states- July 2009

North India is reeling under humidity and moisture although people feel releief from heat. Himalayan states arecurrently under cloud formation and higher reaches are having snow.

 

It is not safe to be on high trails at this season - so either wait or adjust accordingly. Traveling in himalayas is safe so far...so you can have fun with clouds, sun and rains.

Plain shiver, mountain passes closed.

Plains of North India shivers with cloudy weather and shivers down the spines. Mountains passes are closed and moderate to heavy snowfall is being reported from higher reaches.

Sun seems to warm the day but nights are chilly.

Still- Days are warm.

Although morning and evenings are chilly in North India- days are warm to moderately HOT. You can not stand in sun for long time.

It is HOT in North Now.

Where himalayas is pleasant right now- plains are hot.

Heavy rains in North- Landslides in Himalayas

Plains of North India had gone through heavy rainfall resulting in waterlogging on streets and roads. Normal life was not disrupted.

 

Himalayas experienced normal activity of landslides but 7000 travellers suffered in Garhwal when a bridge was washed away. Rescue could not be done due to heavy rains.
